Dating
Even though Finnish women are quite emancipated they still do like to be courted when dating. Women do appreciate traditional courtesy, even though they are usually financially independent, and they may offer to pay their share the restaurant bill, which you can politely refuse or accept to your own pleasure but they still want you to hold doors or pull out their chair when to be seated.

Normal thoughtful courtesy is to recommend, like helping to remove coats or put the on, holding up doors for the woman to enter first, or to climb up the stairs before her so you can not see under her skirts, or the letting her go first down the stairs to not see under the skirts then either. You also choose to let the woman to have the best view when going to a restaurant. Flowers are always nice to bring with you when picking someone up for a date but they are not compulsory. It is even okay to meet in town at the restaurant or movies you are going to.

Hitting on single ladies/men
Women can go out on their own to cafes, bars and restaurants just for a drink and want to be left alone. As do men of course, but this problem more often occur for a single ladies without company.

If you get turned down by a single lady, let her be, she might really, honestly want to be left alone. And if you get the ladies interest shifted to yourself, don’t over do it by being too pushy as chauvinistic attitudes towards women are generally considered unacceptable, although such attitudes still do persist.

Last dance
Just beware, if you dance the last dance with someone you are promising that the night will continue the night together and the question is only if you are going to his or her place.
